Hi Jim,

All preinstalled versions of Windows XP utilize the NTFS. The exception
might be a custom built computer where you specified the FAT32 system for a
dual installation or for some other specific purpose/reason. In the case of
a upgrade, the installation will ask if you want to convert the present file
system to NTFS.

Here are two links that may be useful:

Windows XP Home Page...
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.asp

NTFS vs. FAT...
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/columns/russel/october01.asp

To check, open My Computer or Windows Explorer and right click C: drive (or
the drive with the system files) and select "Properties". Close to the top
of the General tab you should see something like the following:

Type: Local Disk
File system: NTFS
