Ed,
In order to give you specific and detailed answers, we need to see ALL of
your config.sys -- including the three lines you forgot. We also need to
see your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Without those items, we are just guessing.
I'm not sure why you need this at all,
but change the config.sys line from:
DEVICEHIGH=ANSI.SYS
to read as follows:
DEVICEHIGH=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS
That should eliminate your first two error messages.
Also make sure that autoexec.bat has a command line for MSCDEX.EXE-- and
that line also includes the driver's variable name. At the very minimum, it
should read like this:
C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:CD003
