Good morning fellow listees:
I am operating with Windows 98 dated 4.10.98 on an Intel 233MMX with
176MB ram. I have regularly kept my windows version updated with the
update releases from MS web site.
Having just received my Win98 Second Edition CD from MS, I ran my virus
checker, Ctrl-Alt-Del the programs in the background and then tried to
run the setup from the CD. As expected, it first checked my C drive
and then D drive and then gave me a SU0168 error telling me that my
operating system cannot be updated with this program that I needed a
later program (presumingly Win98 SE?).
I "tried" to find help at MS but didn't anything beneficial. I don't
think I have downloaded all the SE updates from MS Web site; since I had
planned to buy the SE CD I did not choose to download the big files.
However, maybe I did download "a" file that changed a dll that makes the
CD update think I already have the SE loaded? Or did I spend $21.15 to
upgrade to SE for nothing? Any ideas on how the "make" this update
work?
Thanks in advance and a very Merry Christmas to all of you!
