While these third party solutions do wonders, I would personally
recommend trying out a new browser with built-in popup blocking. For
example, You can look at using Mozilla as a web browser
(www.mozilla.org). It is a free program and very stable. It features
built in popup blocking and email filtering, as well as a number of
other "nifty" features. For those of you who are more adventurous,
there is also Mozilla Firefox (same page). This is a browser only, and
does not come with an email program built in. But, you can also
download Thunderbird (an email program) from the same site and use them
together.

You know when it is blocking because it plays a sound (IF you want it to) so if you want to get a popup window and don't, one click will allow it. It's really great. I do still get popups on one site : mediacom TVguide.com listings and they are VERY annoying - they come on with very loud sound. I wish I knew how to stop those. -Ann Fennell
