Thanks Sven.

My computer is a Sony PCV-RX 850. Is the "System speaker" different from
the Audio device? Audio is YAMAHA AC.XG WDM Audio. My Sound scheme is
"Windows Default" which I think is "System speaker". Properties say "No
drivers are installed for this device". Driver details say "No driver files
are required or have been loaded for this device." When I clicked update
the driver, "The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than
the software you currently have installed."

On the Sony site, "The utility will install the original Yamaha VMF 753
Audio driver." That seems to be the only update available. What is a
Download Taxi? And do I want to download without the taxi or add the
download taxi?

I am not able to install AVG. SpyBot is the only anti-spyware program I
have. I hesitate to try to install other programs before I am able to
install AVG.

I have a dial-up connection. I want to go to DSL, but not until I have a
''sane" computer with proper protections.

Rowena
