Does the frankenstein machine have the same speed CDRW as the tower
unit? Perhaps the CD's were burned at 24x but the frankenstein machine
can only read cd's burned at 8x or something like that. Also, some older
CD units did not like colored CD's. Perhaps something like this is the
culprit. You really did not provide much information about the
frankenstein unit nor the tower unit to evaluate your problem decently.
