I have the set of 6 XP boot floppies, though never had to use them in anger.

They are available free from Microsoft at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E8FE6868-6E4F-471C-B455-BD5AFEE126D8&displaylang=en

They are about 4 Mb in total. Presumably you'd download them direct to
floppies.

Bootdisk.com http://www.bootdisk.com/ has several useful boot floppies,
as well as much useful info, eg how to turn your boot floppies into a
bootable CD.

Which raises an interesting question of my own:

Is it possible to download any software setup file direct to a CD---a sort
of "burn as you download"? Don't quite know why I'd want to--it's only a
thought experiment. But it might be useful one day, one never knows. The
CD of course would be burning at a much faster rate than the
download---will Nero or whatever slow down the burn rate so that this could
be accomplished? Would it work if you set the burn rate to say 1x instead
of 52x? I imagine that would still be faster than the download, unless
perhaps you were on superfast cable or ADSL2.

I'm not sure how the mechanics of "pointing" the download to the CD burner
would be accomplished, supposing the task is possible. I imagine that
something more than "select the CD drive as the download destination, load
a blank disk, and fire up Nero", would be needed.

Dumb question I guess, doubtless quite pointless.
