This answer is for XP only...
Packet software is NOT required to be installed.
(If you don't know what that is, consider yourself lucky, IMHO.)
Put a blank CD in the burner, (or a CD-R with any number of closed sessions,
but where the disk is open --as in not finalized or closed).
Then drag the files you want to burn to the CD burner drive.
When you have "copied" all you want to the drive, (you are actually establishing
links to the files), select the line that says something like - burn these files to CD.
I use Nero since I can have more options, but this works well for my wife on
her computer...
