Leon,

As I remember the fast shutdown issue was only associated with Win98.
Some of the problems that can cause Win95 to restart instead of shutting
down are:

1. Corrupt logow.sys and logos.sys, try deleting these files and replacing
from your Win95 cdrom.

2. Buggy drivers that won't allow themselves to be unloaded so Windows can
be shutdown.

3. Also check if you have an anitvirus program set to scan floppy drives
when shutting down. You can try unloading the antivirus program before you
shut down to see if this is a problem.

4. Corrupt exit sound files. If you have a sound file associated with
shutting down windows, try disabling having the sound file play and see if
windows shuts down properly.

5. You can also check your bootlog.txt file to see if you find where Windows
is restarting instead of shutting down. This may give you a clue on where
to locate the problem.

6. You can try disabling programs in your startup folder one at a time to
see if your computer will shutdown. If it shuts down after removing one of
the programs then you know that was the offending program.

7. You can also try disabling Advanced Power management to see if Win95 has
a problem with APM. If the computer has been running fine before this
started this is probably not your problem.

Hope this helps,

Mary Wolden
