I often have lists of this type to sort, and I use a spreadsheet -
Quattro Pro, Excel - any of these have basic database functions built
in. As long as the file is ASCII text, it should work. Method of
importing a text file, setting the data type for each column and so on
are particular to whatever spreadsheet you are using. I recommend using
a copy of the file - it can be easy to find you've only sorted one
column of the file.
