Hi All,
I had always understood that to bind two modems for
simultaneous operation to get greater speed you had to have
two separate ISPs and each ISP had to have the MLPPP
Protocol. However, on page 152 of the March 1999 issue of
PC World magazine, a side bar entitled Faster for Free is
written to imply that those using Windows 98 only need a
second modem and one ISP that uses the MLPPP Protocol
(presumably those with Windows 95 can do the same thing if
they have, or download, Dial-Up Networkig 1.3). A
step-by-step procedure is given for the hookup.
Has anyone out there who uses an ISP with MLPPP
capability tried to bond two modems in this manner? I have
an extra 56K v.90 modem and would like to bond it to my
current modem. However, I would not want to go through the
trouble of installing it unless I knew that it actually
would work. I would appreciate comments on this. Thank
you.
