I have had the same problem but after starting the computer in DOS mode and
from there running scandisk the problem was over and never occurred since.
Also since that day i can run scandisk from within windows (98). This tip
was given to me by the Compaq helpdesk.

Hello,

I have EndItAll and closed everything except Explorer and Systray with it
(I'm running Windows 98) and then tried to run ScanDisk. Got the error
message that it had restarted 10 times and to close programs running in
background! They are all closed! Help!
