Not trying to install on two drives "at one and the same time". See
below.

Some programs install on both drives. Second drive has OS. I do not know
what are "synchronized" installs.

After downloading, I want to install from download to second drive after
installing on first. As stated,"I tried installing (after copying
download) from second drive, but that didn't help".

If I can only install on second drive by reconfiguring second drive, "I
can disconnect first drive, configure second drive as  master, and
install to that drive, but that involves unconnecting, changing jumper,
and reconnecting, plus having to download files
again". Following that, I would have to reconnect everything back as it
was. That is a lot of work for each update. Hence my query. Thanks for
help.
