A text editor is probably my most used program next to email and a browser.
There are a lot of really great text editors available.
The best freeware one is EditPad Lite
http://www.freepctech.com/rode/014.shtml. It has tabs, it is easy to use
and it is VERY fast...Windows Notepad speed....which is important to me.
However it doesn't have a spell check unless you purchase the paid Edit Pad
Pro. I have yet to see a freeware one with a spell check but there may well
be one around.
There are lots of other great retail text editors besides EditPad Pro like
TextPad and NoteTab ...two old favorites.
But the best one, hands down is UltraEdit. It only comes in a paid
version, and my only two criticisms of it is that
sometimes I think it offers too much, which can make configuration a bit
daunting, ...and I wish it had a stay on top icon or a hotkey.
UltraEdit is written for programers and those who take their text editors
very seriously! I wouldn't want to have to compute without it!
