I teach Excel 2007 at a community college in California and use Word 2007
extensively. I've been using Microsoft Office since 1994. I haven't look at
the bloat and can't comment on it and while I will agree on the "group sharing"
comment, there are some enhanced features in 2007. The question is whether the
individual user has sufficient need for them. It has taken me a lot of work to
get use to the Ribbon vs. the toolbars and menu and after a year, I'm not really
there yet.

The bigger problem is the ability to open 2007 documents in earlier versions of
Office. This is resolved with a free offering from Microsoft that adds the
ability to open 2007 document in some earlier MS Office products. I have MS
office 2000, XP and 2003 installed on various computers around my house and
installed the converters so long ago that I've forgotten exactly where to get
them but they should be easy enough to find at MS Offices Download web page.
