Sounds like a good starting point would be to get rid of the Mcafee firewall. There is a much better free one called zonealarm available at www.zonesystems.com. The problem with restoring to a point in the past is that you may get rid of things you want that didn't exist before the restore point. If it has only been a day and you haven't created any irreplaceable files, then a restore point is the cleanest way to get rid of it. A regular uninstall should be OK if you can't remember what else you might lose. If you think you have some kind of virus or spyware, then run the Mcafee virus checker after you've made sure it has the latest virus updates. If you don't have a spyware checker, download the popular freebie Spybot 1.3 (latest version). Do a google search for "spybot 1.3" without the quotes and you'll get a ton of download sites for it.
