Thanks to Sven Swanson, Sr., Alan Thompson, Mike Mason, Ben Moore and Peter Hogan for trying to help
with Windows Logon at boot up.

Situation: Running Win98SE and having upgraded to IE 6.0, I lost the use of my CD burner program.
Tech support told me I had a conflict with IE 6.0 and to return to an earlier version. I did and
the CD burner worked as before. BUT then I started getting the windows logon. Deleting the *.pwl
files did not help.

Your solutions to:
1. leave blank and click on OK and the logon would not reappear did not work. It will not allow me
to leave name and password blank; will allow password to be blank when clicking on OK but the logo
returns at next boot up.
2. go to Passwords in the Control Panel and choose the Change Passwords tab did not work. There
was no Change Passwords tab.
3. go to Control Panel, Network and choose Windows Logon as primary network logon.... did not work
as I was already using Windows Logon.
4. use TweakUI by going to the "Logon" tab and supply a username and password for auto logon.
This worked.

However, I'm wondering why it was necessary to use a 3rd party (?) software program to correct(?) a
windows problem. And why did the "problem" even show up when returning to IE 5.0? Surely the
problem should have been corrected by one of the first three suggestions. I reckon MS Win has just
gotten too big and internally interactive for all ramifications to be considered and understood.

Thanks to all who answered.
Ken
