Outlook Express is a different sort of 'animal' from Outlook. It doesn't use .pst files. It uses files with the extension .dbx (inbox.dbx, outbox.dbx, etc.) located in a store folder. To locate the store folder, use the Tools menu, click Options, then click the Maintenance tab. There should be a "cleanup" button and a "store folder" button. Clicking this button will reveal a dialog that will show the current store folder path, and will allow you to change it. What you may need to do to locate the missing e-mails is to change the current store folder to the one used previously. If you want to keep all the e-mails together, that can be a bit trickier. You may (if you find them all) need to forward them to a hotmail or a yahoo account, change the store file location back to the more recent one, forward the forwarded e-mails from the yahoo or hotmail account, then retrieve them with Outlook Express. I only suggest this work-around, because I have had little luck exporting from OE. It
just does it to make it available to Outlook. The path below is to a store folder on a WindowsXP computer. The path will probably be different on a WindowsME computer, but the procedure will still be the same.
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{9559BC89-2461-4968-B8CC-3B91E18FCF61}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Good luck with the operation.
