Another source of problems can be the Normal.dot template, the
default.  You can rename the Normal.dot (do a file search to locate it),
and then restart Word.  Word will rebuild a default template if that was
the problem.  If it wasn't the source of the problem you can then delete
the new Normal.dot and rename the old one back to Normal.dot.  If it does
have to be rebuilt you will loose some of your default settings and will
have to recreate them.
