Different utilities kept telling me that I
needed the oepatsp1.exe patch.
(Security fix for MSIEsp1-Outlook Express.)
Two things kept me from getting a new copy from MS.
I was downloading directly to my desktop recently
and that has been PAINFULLY slow. (See other message.)
I had a copy of the patch locally, so I just installed
it two or three times from there. (I don't keep logs).
It turns out the "original patch" I got on
07/29/1998 11:40pm was too small, 761k as opposed to 1.1k,
and did not work.
I managed to "look in" it at some point, and saw only
three files. (This was after the problem.)
The real patch from "today" has eight files.
NOW when I check Help:About:Outlook Express,
I get v 4.72.3120.0, as I should get. Anybody have a
similar problem with this patch?
Rick
