Hi Ralph,

Many car and portable CD players (especially older ones) won't play CD-RW
disks. Use a CD-R instead.

Also, can you describe what process you went through to make the CD? It is
possible you created a data disk of MP3 or WMA files and not an audio CD.
Most home or car players will not play this type of CD (unless it
specifically says it is MP3 or WMA compatible)

I burned my tape to a rw cd and it plays ok on my
computer but will not play on my portable or in the
car. Is there a setting I need to use to make it play
on them?
