Use AVG and install it. It is free for home users so no licensing problems
and it is easy to remove.
Use Bart's PE with McAfee command line scanner.
Use a USB hard drive enclosure to attach the HD to another computer with
updated AV software and run it that way.
Install the HD in another computer as a slave and run scanner from there.

Does anyone have an easy way to detect viruses on machines that do not yet
have antivirus protection?

Someone mentioned to me that one could use a notebook with a hub.. and
attach the machine in question to the hub.. but my Norton Anti-Virus
software is single machine only and does not recognize networked drives..

Has anyone done anything like this? I would like the ability to detect and
eradicate viruses on such machines.. so that after they were clean we could
install ongoing antivirus protection..

Thank you,

Steve Millman
