You could try this : go to My Computer-->Control Panel-->Keyboard, where
you'll find it possible to adjust the keyboard repeat rate and keyboard
delay. It would take a bit trial and erroring, though.
If that doesn't work, do check with a different keyboard if the problem
persists. In fact you might like to do this to start with -- to eliminate
the possibility that your keyboard may be seeking retirement ! :)
