Hello and Marry Christmas Larry and All,

OK. I am by no means an expert at this but will give it a small shot.

I am currently using a
SBLive
KEF Q35's and
Adcom GFA-555

I burn using WinXP, Nero, my Plextor CDRW drive, and use Kodak Ultima 80 media.

My first experience with horrible sound was with the analog cable coming
out of my Asus CD-Rom drive. Screechy and all. So I upgraded to the best
cable I could find which wasn't much. At the time I was using Hi-Val blank
media. After that little problem, I suppose the cable helped a bit but the
best thing I could do was to back all of my levels way down and roll the
highs off.

Now after trying various cabling and finally settling on the Kodak Ultima
CD-R w/Infoguard media I have been very happy. Granted, it still sounds
thin on my main system in the other room but I think that will remain until
I get completely switched over to tube amps. I believe there just isn't a
way to get that warm feeling/sound with the equipment we have on our
computers, yet.

If you get a chance, try some different media, cabling, and roll off your
highs a bit along with backing overall gains down some. See if this helps any.

Above All, Have Fun!
