Are you referring to the Customize Toolbars.. dropdown option? If so, the
separators are there to put thelight lines between groups of items on your
toolbar. They are not programs, just lists of the things you can put on
your IE toolbar.

The ads are coming from the sites you visit on-line.

As to the "abnormal amount of ads" this could be coming from other places
on your hard drive. even the registry. almost every freeware program you
download comes with some type of ad producing program. This is how they
make money on "freeware"

There are programs out there which will clean your computer of AD-ware.
Some are free and some are not.

Hope this helps

Subject: [PCSOFT] IE6 - View / Toolbars menu

> Question regarding IE6 and hope somebody can help... Upon visiting a few
sites today I noticed a greater than 'normal' amount of pop up ads and when
I went into the View / Toolbars menu I noticed the standard items: Standard,
Address, Links. BUT - there is also a 'separator' in there or something
that allows me to "check" a 'blank' menu item. There is no text displayed
with this option and it doesn't go away.
