This might not have anything to do with your problem. But I went to Help &
Support on this computer, and it was talking about the quota's one might or
might not have enabled. Dunno if this will keep your's from running that
chkdisk or not. But there are some other listings for things listed under the
Help & Support if you will type in Check Disk... look around and see if any
might apply to your problem. Regardless,if you still can't get it to work
right, I would write Microsoft again and again, till they help you resolve this.
You don't have a virus or something like that to mess your computer up do
you. Sometimes, a virus program will say there is nothing, when it really
is.   Harriet
=======================================
To enable disk quotas
    1.  Open _My Computer_
(ms-its:EXEC=ExploreWClass,EXPLORER.EXE,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}%20CHM=ntshared.chm%20FILE=alt_url_windows_compon
ent.htm) .
    2. Right-click the disk volume for which you want to enable disk quotas,
and then  click Properties.
    3. In the Properties dialog box, click the _Quota_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=dskquoui.hlp TOPIC=nt_quota_quotatab_pu)   tab.
    4. On the Quota properties page, select the Enable quota management
check box.
    5. Select one or more of the following options, and then click OK:
_Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/nt_quota_enable.htm#)

Users who exceed their quota limit receive an "insufficient disk space"
error from Windows and cannot write additional data to the _volume_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp TOPIC=gls_volume)   without first
deleting or moving some existing files from it.
Individual programs determine their own error handling for this condition.
To the program, it appears that the volume is full. If you clear this check
box, users can exceed their quota limit. Enabling quotas and not limiting disk
space use are useful when you do not want to deny users access to a volume but
 want to track disk space use on a per-user basis. You can also specify
whether or not to log an event when users exceed either their quota warning level
or  their quota limit.
_Limit disk space to_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/nt_quota_enable.htm#)

Enter the amount of disk space that new users of the volume are allowed to
use and the amount of disk space that has to be used before an event is
written to the system log. _Administrators_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp TOPIC=administrator) can view these events in Event Viewer.
You can use decimal values (for example, 20.5) For the disk space and
warning levels, select the appropriate units from the drop-down list (for example,
KB, MB, GB, etc.). For more information about Event Viewer, see Related
Topics.
_Log event when a user exceeds their quota limit_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/nt_quota_enable.htm#)

If quotas are enabled, an event is written to the system log on the local
computer whenever users exceed their quota limit. _Administrators_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp TOPIC=administrator)   can view
these events in Event Viewer, filtering for disk event types.
By default, quota events are written hourly to the system log on the local
computer. You can change the interval at which quota events are written to the
system log on the local computer using the fsutil behavior command. For more
information about Event Viewer or the fsutil behavior command, see Related
Topics.
_Log event when a user exceeds their warning level_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/nt_quota_enable.htm#)

If quotas are enabled, an event is written to the system log on the local
computer whenever users exceed their quota warning level. _Administrators_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp TOPIC=administrator)   can

 Notes
    * <NOLOC>To open My Computer,Start, and then click My Computer.
    * <NOLOC>If the volume is not formatted wi_NTFS file system_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp%20TOPIC=gls_NTFS) , or if you
are not a member of the _Administrators_
(ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\dskquoui.chm::/HELP=glossary.hlp%20TOPIC=administrator) group, the Quota tab is not
displayed in the volume's Properties dialog box.
    * Event Viewer builds a historical, chronological record of which users
 exceeded their quota warning level and quota limits, and when they exceeded
them. However, it does not provide information about which users are
currently over their quota warning level. To find that information, click the Quota
Entries button.
