Some time back, I posted a query about possible causes of my W98SE Outlook
Express 5.5 having become progressively slower to start up, over a period of
months.

Thanks to Trudy Schuett, and her links below, I appear to have found the
answer.

Apparently, the problem lies with an oversize Inbox - Tomsterdam's advice is
to keep it lean and mean. After shifting the 428 messages I had sitting in
there, OE opens almost instantly.

Unfortunately (Trudy), I couldn't find the answer to my W98SE OE 5.5
customer's problem of not getting attachments from an Outlook 97 source, but
their common ISP suggested that the source should only send him Plain Text
files, not Rich Text, and this seems to have cured the problem.
