For at least a week, I've been having a problem where I would get the
notification that Firefox 3.6.8 is available, choose to update, and
never get connected o the update server. I suspected an issue with my
firewall (ZoneAlarm) or my ISP (GoogleWiFi).
Last night I finally got it to work -- while trying to address a new
problem. I had hoped they might both be symptoms of a single underlying
cause, but the new problem remains, and so that's what I need help with:

When I go to http://www.facebook.com with Firefox, I get a screen that
want's me to answer some bogus "survey" before (t claims) I can proceed.
The "survey" appears to be from those "test and keep the latest hot
device" scammers, for whatever that's worth. It pretends to be
something Facebook has chosen to do, but it doesn't appear if I use IE,
so I conclude that they've hijacked my Firefox somehow.
Scans with MSE, AVG and SpyBot all come up clean. I suspected a
resolver/DNS or hosts file compromise, but the site name resolves to the
right address, so it's not that simple.

Anybody recognize this, or got a recommendation? (This is on my XP
SP2 box, if that matters.)
