Try Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel to see if it's listed there?
Run MSConfig, select the StartUp Tab and see what's starting with Windows.
Do a FIND for the offending executable
Search your Registry for references to the app
It could be some type of SpyWare trying to connect to its server. Try something like Ad-Aware or similiar to root out any sneaky installs.
Do you frequent Usenet? Have you decoded something you wanted that turned out to be something else (like a porno service dialler)? (No offence intended; happens to me all the time :-) Hope this helps
