I don't know what this would prove, but have you tried performing the copy
from the other end? In otherwords, instead of "pushing" the file to the
destination machine, logon at the destination machine and "pull" the file.
It's possible that the hub is interfering, try bypassing the hub and
connect the two PCs directly with a cross-connect cable.
