Hi PCSoft folks,
I am getting the following error on booting up, after the Windows '95
splash screen: mprexe.exe caused an invalid page fault in mfc42.dll.
Then Windows hangs. Here's the story:
It's a Pentium with 64 mb RAM, 4 gb hard drive, running Windows '95b.
It had a program installed that I needed to upgrade (our national
membership program created in Access '97). In order to do the
upgrade, I was required to first uninstall the existing program using
Windows' Add/Remove Programs feature. In doing that, I must have
said yes when I should have said no to uninstall some file that was
not being shared by anything else. Since doing the uninstall I have
not been able to run Windows except in Safe Mode.
I have copied later versions of both the offending files onto the
problem machine, which only resulted in mprexe.exe having a problem
in kernel32.dll, so I've copied them back. Dll stuff always trips me
up, so I'd appreciate any and all suggestions of how to get this
machine running again.
Oh, I did have a consultant in last week working on some other stuff
so I asked him to take a look at it, and according to him (I wasn't
here at the time), he turned the computer on and off 4 times and it
booted up fine. He couldn't find any problem. Now that I'm ready to
install the upgrade, I'm encountering the problem again.
Thanks!
Holli
