Linda,

Each time you SAVE a jpg image it loses some of it's quality.  If you simply
open the file, view it (or print it), and then CLOSE the file, then the
image will not change.

There is nothing wrong with your image files  -- as long as --  you are not
editing and SAVING the files.   What you may be seeing is the early warning
stages of a video problem.  Most likely the monitor is going bad, but it
could be your video card.
