Depends what program you're using for your word processing. I'm sure there
are plenty of freeware stand-alone spellchecks available if you do a google
search, or go to some of the better shareware download sites. There are
plenty of cheap or even free good alternatives to Office, which is gross
overkill for most of us on a home computer, unless writing is your
profession. hunt around the shareware/freeware sites or do some intensive
Google searching until you find exactly what you want. Sun Office suite (or
is it Star, I've forgotten) is free, and apparently a good alternative to
Word if you need a fully-featured word processing suite. But it's a pretty
hefty download if you are on dialup.
Have you checked to see whether whatever program you're using has a
spellcheck option which might just need enabling?
