I agree with most of below but would add the following modification, especially
if you want to keep some of the exitiing (new) messages/folders.

First, there are two types of files for each folder, i.e. *.mbx and *.idx that
you must move/copy.

You can keep everything you currently have in the exisiting (new) OE. Create a
new folder (make sure, just for safety, you know the all the existing numbered
mbx and idx files so that you can be sure you know which is for the newly
created folder.). The mbx and idx files are usually by default in PROGRAM
FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\DEFAULT USER\MAIL or similiarly unless you have modified
your regfiles to put them elsewhere ( which by the way is a way to read the
files on the other drive and/or re-send them to yourself. Then change the reg
files back to the "new" files and receive your files from your ISP. But I
deverge <G>.) Close OE. Then one by one, copy each numbered mbx/idx files (old
drive) to the new drive naming the old files the same number as the newest file
you created. Open OE. Move the emails in the new folder to whereever you want
them. Close OE and again until you get all the old numbered files copied and
checked out. You can also do this for the old INBOX/DELETED/DRAFTS/OUTBOX/SENT
folders but they are not numbered files but are their own named files, e.g.
inbox.idx and inbox.mbx.

Have found copying. If you have the old Norton File Manger, I found it to be
easier to use since you can filter the idx/mbx files and many other dynamic
features. If you do not, explorer will work.

First of all in your orignal files,
Delete all messages in the deleted items folder
    Compact all the folders.
Count how many folders you have

Using windows explorer, look at the location where your outlook express
files are stored. The files will be stored as folderXX.mbx where XX is the
sequential number of the last created folder. Determine what the highest
number is in the outlook express mail directory.

Start Outlook Express [New version]. Create as many new folders as you have
in your old outlook express files. Go back to win explorer and check the
new file numbers. What you have done is create an index in Outlook express
so that it knows that the new folders exist.

Now go back to your old Outlook Express files and rename or make copies of
the files to correspond with the new file numbers you just created.

[In other words, if one of the new files you created is called folder14.mbx
then in the folder for your old version of outlook express, use win explorer
to rename one of the files to folder14.mbx]

Now copy all the folders in your old outlook folder to your new outlook
folder [answer yes to replace files]. When you start outlook express, it
will now recognize the folders from your old version of oe.
