Sure sounds like it. After you find out what has disabled PNP, a good way
to maintain PNP (which is a big cyber hole that is open to viral attack) is
with a small freeware program called, "Unplug n' Pray." Simply stated,
this program shuts down PNP and leaves it this way. When you need to
install a Plug and Play device just turn PNP on, then after installation,
turn it off again. Read the info on the website before installing. Here's
