Hi Peter,

"Pushing(UDP)" - This is a mechanism that gets around the problem that
some computers can't receive a connection from the Internet, usually
because of proxy servers or firewalls. In the case of Limewire, Ares,
Gnutella, etc., your computer has determined that the peer that it wants
to connect to can't receive a direct connection, so it is sending out a
"push" message to another computer that is connected to that peer. That
computer will tell the peer that it needs to connect to you, and provide
the necessary information so that the peer can find yours.

"Idle" means that the computer is not being used, so it is disconnected
from some ultrapeers (that's what Limewire calls them, not sure about
Ares or others) to help conserve network bandwidth. It's not related to
downloads or uploads, only to search functions. I think that the idea
is that if you're not actually at your computer, you won't be doing any
searches, so there's no reason to keep a connection open to the ultrapeer.
