I don't know what you mean by "enable the .doc file extension on Access 97".
What exactly do you expect this to do for you?  If you want to open .doc
files in Access to move something from Word to Access, I don't think this is
possible.  You may have to create an Excel workbook from the Word document
and then import it into Access.  Also, there is no way to export data from
Access directly to a Word document.
