I would go ahead and add the key.  Highlight Shared Tools in the left pane.
Right click on the right pane.  Select new and then string and name the new
key.  Make sure you follow type "SharedFilesDir" exactly.  Right click on
the  key you just named, select modify and fill in the blank.  I just
checked my registry and it contains that key and value.  I also have the
Shared Tools Location key that you have.  They both contain the same
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\" value .
