this is not the best of methods for such a large file unless you do a MD5 CHECKSUM. and worse, likely to loose, if system crashes

UNLESS IT IS SOME SORT OF MALWARE no download will affect anything on your system but there is no way to be 100% sure. at best you can scan for virus etc before downloading.

why do'nt you order the CD by mail??
