  When the thumbtack is "inserted", the box will stay around, on top of
other windows, when you're done with the current action.  This is handy
if you're going to be referring to that box a lot.  When the thumbtack
is in profile, the box goes away after each action, and you have to
click on a menu option or toolbar button to get it back when you need
it again.
