It is not this easy.
I do not know what you mean by "reload XP ...," but, remember, both XP and
XP Pro have been licensed to a single computer. Presumably, the license for
XP Pro will have been abandoned, and the XP Home will be transferred to a
different computer ("reload"). You will need to get reauthorization from
Microsoft for the XP Home within 30 days. I do not know if Microsoft will
accept this transfer or not... (I would call them and ask first.)
It would have been this easy to upgrade from 95 to 98 or 98 to ME, but with
the introduction of begware - XP - you now must authorize it within 30 days
of installation.
I suggest that you just keep XP Pro on the machine and uninstall or erase
everything. If the information is somewhat sensitive, and erasing is not
acceptable, then FDISK, format, and reinstall XP Pro. Since XP Pro is
already licensed to this machine, reauthorization should only be a minor
hassle.

Hi
I have a computer I wish to pass on to my nephew.
Before I do this I want to erase everything on the H/D which includes XP
Pro, so he can reload his XP Home Upgrade and other applications.
I been told that we will have to format the hard drive of the pc and then
reload Win 98 and then load XP Home Upgrade. It all sounds so easy I
thought I would get some advice from you!
