I have noticed that from time to time in e-mail the apostrophe and quotation mark characters disappear from a mail and are replaced with an open rectangle, which sometimes means a character cannot be read. This happens with some, but not all, of my correspondence, and only shows up in text I have sent out that has come back to me in a reply. I use WinXP-Pro, Outlook 2003, and Comcast for my ISP.
Certainly, this is not the most important question of the hour, but does anyone know why this happens and can explain it simply? Does it relate to ASCII, HTML, or ... ?
Thanks.
