A couple of minor points ... In the computer world, "k" refers to 1024, not
1000. I don't think that using an upper or lower case "k" is important to
any discussion but using an upper or lower case "b" IS very important. A
lower case "b" means "bits" (or single binary digits) while an upper case
"B" means "bytes" (or eight binary digits).
