Greetings--
I have encountered a strange problem while attempting to apply two updates
to a base version of Office 97. I installed SR-1, and all appeared to be
well. When I attempted to install SR-2a, I received the following error
message:
The Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 patch cannot be applied to your computer.
Either Office 97
is not installed on this computer, or there are files from multiple
versions of Office 97 on
this computer. Try installing Office 97 or running the latest SR-1
patch to correct the problem.
Or, contact Microsoft Technical Support for further assistance.
While I can't be certain that there are no "files from multiple versions of
Office 97" on the individual's computer, I suspect there are not, and I did
run "the latest SR-1 patch". There were a couple of Norton products running
on my initial attempts, but, on subsequent attempts, I left only Explorer
and Systray active.
If anyone can shed some light on this situation, or provide a work-around,
I'd be most grateful.
Thanks in advance,
