  A simpler approach is to use the "TweakUI" PowerToy.  [I know it's on the
Win98 SE CD.  Not sure about older Win98, but if it's not on the CD you may
be able to download it from microsoft.com.]

  In the early days of Win 95, a great many system instabilities seems to
result from people trying to get rid of these "pesky" arrows (which
personally I like...).  I would hope that these instabilities have been fixed
in Win98, but I'm still reluctant to recommend getting rid of the arrows.
