No, you can install another Dos version.
You need to partition your hard drive to do so.
See www.microsoft.com and search for "partition" or go to www.Anandtech.com
under Forums and search their.

The version you are seeing is Windows 98 version.  I'm not sure, but I would
believe that when you are in pure dos (upon boot up enter dos), you should
be able to see the dos version their.
