In Internet Options, Internet Zone, Security Settings, there are a number of setting that may cause you to have to hit refresh to display the page:

Under Miscellaneous:

    Access data sources across domains

    All META REFRESH (I'm not sure what this is - I have Enable)

    Display Mixed Content

    Launching Programs and files in an IFRAME (don't know what this is - I have Enable)

    Navigate sub-frames across different domains

    Software channel permissions

Another possibility is a PopUp Ad Blocker blocking the page when it is accessed as a link
