  The most obvious factor that could be slowing down your work machine is
that it only has 32MB of RAM.  Depepnding on your application mix, that might
not be enough.

  Under the "System" control panel, there are some performance settings, one
of which configures cache allocation for the CD-ROM drive.  Make sure that's
set to its maximum.  [While you're there, make sure nothing (and especially
your CD-ROM drive) is running in DOS Compatibility mode....]

  If these things check out, then please describe that work machine in more
detail -- hardware, peripherals, OS, usual applications, and any conflicts
indicated in Device Manager.
