My desktop has a problem that's driving me nuts. I can connect to the internet, but cannot get into MSN or Hotmail. My laptop connects into both without a problem. I have contacted MSN several times for help and they don't seem to know what to do either.

MSN (1-800-386-5550) - TS 1-877-635-7019):

Call 1 - had me reinstall the file reqsvr32 softpub.dll. Ran ok.

Call 2 - had me go to passport.com and remove/reinstall MSN Messenger. I couldn't get on the internet with the desktop so I went to another machine and downloaded MSN Messenger from passport.com and removed MSN Messenger 6.0 and installed 5.0.

Call 3 - had me remove/reinstall MSN. I did this several times.

Call 4 - had me remove my MSN account information and reinstall it. I went through - Signup Page - Ctrl-Shift-F11 - Click "remove your account" - say yes a couple times, answer no "not connected" and it automatically dials 18884134389 giving me "Dialing your modem (tested modem - ok)" and "to set up internet service on this computer." Unfortunately Microsoft didn't answer and I got the error message "We're sorry, we can not reach the MSN Service to sigh you up for MSN 8." Had me run psreg.dns.com. Couldn't find the file. Suggested I call Dell.

MSN Interactive Online Support (CTS1291592231D-MSNIA_TS_US):

Expertise was limited to accounts and billing. Listened and then sent me to Tech Support.

MSN Interactive Online Technical Support (130095552):

He hung up on me - I wasn't typing fast enough.

Dell (Exp Serv Code 140-408-005-33/Serv Tag 6G7J311):

Call 1 - had me run sfc /scannow to verify protected files were present and current - they were. Said if it passed, I should remove and reinstall MSN. It passed. Had me try to run psreg.dns.com again. Still couldn't find the file. Had me check the security setting by clicking on start/rc my computer/c manage/cc services & applications/cc services/rc cryptographic services/c properties/startup/automatic/start. Everything was ok.

I would really appreciate and suggestions on how to get MSN working.
