Jeanette,

  Either cut or copy then paste some characters in Wordpad this way; Hold
the CTRL key down and press X (Cut) or press C (Copy) then hold the CTRL
key again and press V (Paste).  If this works, then ok - do it this
way.  The problem is probably either a conflict or a corrupted Wordpad
program (Which would require reinstalling windows.)
